A Free Fitness Program For Kids – MarathonKids.com
There is an alarming rate of obesity and type 2 diabetes among children. MarathonKids.com is a free school- and community-based fitness program that includes a six-month endurance building running/walking, nutrition and schoolyard gardening. This program is open to K-5th grades and their families. MarathonKids.com challenges kids to run or walk 26.2 miles during the six-month endurance program where each 1/4 mile they complete are written in their Running Log. Their fitness program also encourages participants to eat 5 serving of fruits and vegetables for at least 26 days in a month which they log in their Marathon Kids Fuel Log. This helps the children pay attention what they have been “fueling” their bodies with.
